UTL supporting local and national charities
290 miles of walking and cycling for Macmillan Cancer Support
Each year our Operating Committee, along with employee volunteers, embark on a sporting challenge in aid of our chosen national charity, this year that charity is Macmillan Cancer Support.
Guaranteed hard work but for a great cause, the challenge involves two coasts, walking a lot of miles, hills, cycling a lot of miles, and steep hills. In September our team will tackle a 290 mile route that runs from The Wash in Boston Lincolnshire to Abbotsbury in Dorset, across fenland and limestone England that is called the Macmillan Way.

UTL’s Tandem Coast to Coast Challenge: 9th-12th October 2013
390 miles, 8 people, 10 wheels, 1 puncture, 43 cereal bars, 11 cans of soup, 37,763 calories burned, 9,845ft climbed, 1 great cause, and over £20k for Beating Bowel Cancer – a brilliant team effort.
In October 2013 the UTL Tandem Coast to Coast Challenge Team returned triumphant from their 390 mile challenge. The team completed their route in four days, cycling along the South coast of Britain, from St Austell to Dover.
Whilst the team were out and about cycling the coastal roads, another intrepid group of colleagues completed the journey between UTL Nuneaton, Magna Park and Baginton B on Friday 11th October on a special three-seater bike in just under four hours. The team certainly attracted plenty of attention on their travels and did a fantastic job of further raising awareness for the Beating Bowel Cancer cause.
